FIPRON Cord Type 3 Automatic Fire Suppression Cord – Protects up to 300 L per Metre in Electrical Cabinets

A self-activating cord that detects and puts out fires inside electrical panels — no power, cylinders or wiring.

MRP Rs 24,600 per metre

FIPRON Cord Type 3 is an autonomous fire suppression cord for electrical cabinets. Laid inside the panel just above the equipment, it detects a fire by heat (local heating to 200 °C) and within 10–20 seconds releases a gas-aerosol extinguishing agent under pressure into the fire zone, then fills the cabinet with an atmosphere that blocks re-ignition. Type 3 protects up to 300 litres of cabinet volume per metre and is identified by its white braid with yellow thread.

FIPRON Cord needs no power supply, no fire detectors, no cylinders and no wiring, and is made for equipment under voltage up to 36 kV in cabinets of 8 to 2000 litres.

At a glance

  • Model: FIPRON Cord Type 3
  • Protection capacity: up to 300 L of cabinet volume per metre of cord
  • Marking: white braid with yellow thread
  • Activation: local heating to 200 °C; agent released within 10–20 s
  • Suitable for: electrical equipment up to 36 kV; cabinets 8–2000 L
  • Operating temperature: -50 to +80 °C
  • Warranty / service life: 5 years
  • MRP: Rs 24,600 per metre of cord

Why choose FIPRON Cord

  • Detects and extinguishes on its own — no detectors, power, cylinders, pipes or control panel.
  • Acts in 10–20 seconds at the source, while the fire is still inside the cabinet.
  • Nothing to break down — no moving parts, no false alarms, no loss of performance over its service life.
  • Safe for people and equipment — no explosive, poisonous or prohibited substances; releases agent without exceeding maximum allowable concentrations.
  • Installs in minutes — cut to length and fix 3–5 cm above the likely fire points.

Specifications

  • Construction: composite cord: polymer core in a non-combustible fiberglass braid; types differ in capacity per metre, core diameter and braid colour
  • Protection capacity: FIPRON Cord Type 3: up to 300 L per metre (Type 1: up to 100 L per metre, Type 2: up to 200 L per metre, Type 3: up to 300 L per metre)
  • Braid marking: white braid with yellow thread
  • Activation: local heating to 200 °C
  • Response: extinguishing agent delivered within 10–20 seconds of reaching the start temperature
  • Application limits: electrical equipment under voltage up to 36 kV; cabinet volume 8–2000 L
  • Cord length: cabinet volume ÷ capacity per metre — for example, a 600 L cabinet needs about 2 m of Type 3, 3 m of Type 2 or 6 m of Type 1
  • Released on activation: gases up to 60% (CO₂ up to 35%, N₂ up to 10%, water vapour up to 20%); aerosol up to 28% (potassium salts KClO₃, KIO₃); sand up to 8% (SiO₂, largely retained by the braid)
  • Composition: fiberglass braid 20–30%; potassium salts 30–55%; polydimethylsiloxane rubber 15–30%; dicyandiamide 5–25%
  • Operating temperature: -50 to +80 °C; not hygroscopic; does not oxidise in air
  • Fire classes: A, B and E marked by the manufacturer
  • Service life / warranty: 5 years from installation, then disposed of by controlled activation; spent fiberglass sheath is non-hazardous (hazard class 5)

How FIPRON Cord works

When a short circuit starts a fire, cable insulation gasifies and the cabinet heats rapidly. As soon as the cord reaches 200 °C, a low-temperature reaction in its core releases extinguishing gases and aerosol that build pressure in the braid and burst out through it into the fire zone.

The expanding gases cool the fire; the pressurised agent breaks the combustion chain reaction; nitrogen, water vapour and CO₂ dilute the oxygen; fine SiO₂ forms a film over surfaces; and light aerosol particles fill the whole cabinet to stop the fire reigniting.

Where it is used

  • LT panels, MCCs, PCCs and distribution boards
  • Control, PLC and drive panels
  • Solar inverters, combiner boxes and battery (BESS) enclosures
  • Telecom shelters, server racks and UPS cabinets
  • Railway signalling and rolling-stock cabinets
  • Unmanned kiosks, RMUs and outdoor enclosures

Which FIPRON Cord type do I need?

  • FIPRON Cord Type 1 — up to 100 L per metre; MRP Rs 11,800 per metre.
  • FIPRON Cord Type 2 — up to 200 L per metre; MRP Rs 19,200 per metre.
  • FIPRON Cord Type 3 — up to 300 L per metre; MRP Rs 24,600 per metre: the shortest cord run in large cabinets.
  • Rule of thumb: cord length (m) ≈ cabinet volume (L) ÷ capacity per metre — send us the cabinet sizes and we will size it.

Frequently asked questions

How much cabinet volume does FIPRON Cord Type 3 protect?

Up to 300 litres per metre of cord, so the cord length you need is the cabinet volume divided by 300 — for example, 2 m for a 600 L cabinet.

Does FIPRON Cord need power or a detector?

No. It detects the fire itself by temperature and releases the agent on its own — no power supply, detector, cylinder or wiring.

How fast does it act?

It releases the extinguishing agent within 10–20 seconds of reaching 200 °C.

Is it safe for people and electrical equipment?

The manufacturer states it contains no explosive, poisonous or prohibited substances, does not damage equipment or harm people when triggered, and releases agent without exceeding maximum allowable concentrations of harmful substances.

Up to what voltage can it be used?

Electrical equipment under voltage up to 36 kV.

How long does it last?

5 years from installation, with a 5-year warranty. It is then disposed of by controlled activation outdoors.

Where is it installed in the panel?

3–5 cm above the contact groups and equipment most likely to start a fire.

What is the price of FIPRON Cord Type 3?

MRP Rs 24,600 per metre of cord. Call +91 9340081159 with your cabinet sizes and we will work out the length you need and confirm delivery.
