Is this the right one for you?
Check these four things before you order:
- The supply is single phase and the mains (EB) side is up to 30 A.
- The building has a shared or standby generator (DG) and each flat or shop is allowed a fixed generator current.
- You know the generator current allotted to you - the ACCL is made for 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 A.
- You want the changeover to happen automatically, without anyone operating a switch.

How it works and how to choose
How it works. While the mains is on, the flat runs on the mains up to 30 A. When the mains fails, the ACCL switches to the generator supply automatically and lets the flat draw only the generator current allotted to it; when the mains returns, it switches back.
Choosing the genset limit. Order the rating equal to the generator current your society or building allots to you. As a rough guide, at 230 V each ampere is about 230 W of load - 1 A runs a few lights and fans, 5 A also runs a refrigerator and a television.
Overload. Polycab describes the ACCL as limiting the current on the generator side to the set rating; an overload on the generator side is indicated by an LED and a beep, and the unit has an auto-reset facility. Ask us for the exact cut-off and reconnection behaviour of the rating you order.
Installation. It is fitted with the flat's distribution board, with the mains and generator supplies brought to it by an electrician.

Frequently asked questions
What does an ACCL do?
It changes a single-phase supply over from the mains to the generator automatically when the mains fails, and limits the current drawn from the generator to the rating you choose. When the mains returns it switches back.
Which genset rating should I choose?
The generator current allotted to your flat or shop by the society or building. Polycab makes the ACCL for 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 A.
What happens if I use more than my generator limit?
The ACCL limits the current on the generator side to the rating you chose; it indicates the overload with an LED and a beep and has an auto-reset facility (Polycab). We can confirm the exact behaviour for your rating.
Is the price different for each rating?
No - every genset rating has the same MRP, Rs 3,105 per piece (polycab.com, October 2026).
What is the difference between an ACCL and an MCB changeover switch?
The ACCL changes over automatically and limits generator current. An MCB changeover switch is operated by hand and has no current limit.
