Is this the right one for you?

Check these five things before you order:

• A 1200 mm sweep suits your room - the standard size for a room of about 10 x 12 ft to 12 x 14 ft.
• The ceiling is high enough to keep the blades at least 2.1 m above the floor on the down rod supplied.
• You want the lowest running cost: the BLDC motor draws 35 W at full speed.
• You will confirm the speed control with us when ordering - polycab.com does not say whether this series is supplied with a remote (it lists 25 fine speed settings, which implies one).
• The colour you want is one of the 4 listed: Champagne Gold, Everest White Rosegold, Midnight Black and Titanium Grey.

How to choose and fit it

Sweep. A 1200 mm fan is the standard for a bedroom or living room of about 10 x 12 ft to 12 x 14 ft; use two fans, or a 1400 mm fan, for a hall; 900 mm suits a small room, kitchen or balcony and 600 mm a cabin or a very small room. This series is 1200 mm.

BLDC or induction. A BLDC fan draws roughly 30 to 50 % less power than an induction fan of the same air delivery (Polycab's 30 to 35 W BLDC fans against the 49 to 55 W of most of its 1-star 1200 mm fans, or 70 to 75 W for an older fan) and runs cooler and quieter; it costs more to buy and pays back on the electricity bill where the fan runs for long hours. Polycab rates this series 5 star under the BEE label.

Air delivery. Compare fans by air delivery (CMM - cubic metres per minute) rather than watts: this series delivers 228 CMM. A higher ceiling or a bigger room wants more CMM.

Fitting. Hang the fan from a hook or J-bolt on a down rod so that the blades are at least 2.1 m above the floor and 0.3 m or more below the ceiling; connect phase and neutral in the canopy (and earth where a lead is provided). Confirm the speed control (remote or regulator) with us before wiring.

Ordering. Quote the item code from the variant rows above (for example FCBLDCES257M) with the quantity; mixed lots of colours are fine.

Where it is used

• Bedrooms, living rooms and offices where the fan runs all day and the electricity bill matters
• Air-conditioned rooms, where a low speed setting keeps the cool air moving
• Hostels, hotels, PG rooms and institutions with many fans
• Homes on inverter or solar backup, where the low wattage stretches the battery
