How to choose and fit it

Why a DC breaker. A DC arc does not pass through zero like an AC arc, so it is harder to break. Use a DC-rated MCB such as this one on solar strings, battery banks and other DC circuits, not an AC MCB.

Voltage and poles. Polycab rates its DC MCBs at 250 V DC per pole. For higher DC voltages the poles are connected in series according to the manufacturer's wiring instructions - send us the system voltage and current and we will confirm which version fits.

This version. The DP version has two poles, usually one in each DC conductor so that both conductors are switched. Polycab lists the DC MCB in SP, DP and FP.

Rating. Choose a rating above the normal DC current of the circuit (for a solar string, the string current with the usual safety margin) and within the current-carrying capacity of the DC cable.

Mounting. It clips on a standard DIN rail in a DC combiner box or enclosure.
