How to choose and specify it

Grades. FR limits flame spread; FRLSH adds low smoke and reduced halogen acid gas (it is still a PVC compound); HR (heat resistant) PVC is rated for a higher conductor temperature than general-purpose PVC; HR-FRLS combines heat resistance, flame retardance and low smoke. Choose low-smoke grades where escape routes must stay as clear of smoke as possible, and heat-resistant grades for hot ceilings and high ambient temperatures - grouping derating and conduit-fill limits still apply.
