Why battery, not diesel
- Sustainable - nothing is burned, so there are no exhaust emissions and no carbon at the point of use, and no fuel has to be trucked to site. The lithium iron phosphate packs are rechargeable for hundreds of cycles and can be topped up from a folding solar panel instead of the grid.
- Ultra portable - every unit here is handled by one person. The small ones are a one-hand carry; the big ones fold down, wheel along and load into a standard vehicle. Nothing in the range needs a trailer, a towing vehicle or a crane.
- Noise free - it runs at 0 dB. There is no engine, so it can work overnight beside housing, hospital wards, hotels, station platforms and inside buildings through the night without a noise objection, and people can talk normally next to it.
- No fuel on site, so no fuel fire risk - a diesel set brings a tank, jerricans, spills and a hot exhaust to the work face. This range brings none of that: nothing to store, nothing to spill and nothing to ignite near dry ground, fuel handling or confined spaces. The cells are lithium iron phosphate, the most thermally stable of the common lithium chemistries.
How to choose
The difference is how the head is held up. The PT-200 has a magnetic base, so it clamps onto steel - a truck, a ship, a fire appliance, scaffolding - and goes wherever there is something ferrous to hold it. The PT-200H puts the same kind of head on its own telescopic tripod, so it stands free on the ground where there is nothing to clamp to. Both are aimed by remote control rather than by hand.
Where these are used
Machinery and plant lighting, firefighting, mining, emergency repair, security, law enforcement and military use.
Charging and runtime
Both lights run on the 24 V D24-100 battery pack, so they share chargers with the portable lights and the device stands. The PT-200 gives 2 to 20 hours on a charge and the PT-200H gives 5 to 38 hours; in both cases the short figure is full output and the long figure is the lowest setting. A spare pack is the simplest way to cover a longer shift.
Frequently Asked Questions
PT-200 or PT-200H - which one do I need?
If there is steel to clamp to - a vehicle, a ship, a structure, scaffolding - take the PT-200 with its magnetic base. If the light has to stand on the ground on its own, take the PT-200H, which is the same style of remote-controlled head on a 2.3 m telescopic tripod.
How far away can I control them from?
The PT-200 is specified for remote control up to 30 m. For the PT-200H, ask us to confirm the range for your application before you order.
Why remote control at all?
Because re-aiming a work light usually means someone climbing, or lowering a mast. A powered head that pans 360 degrees and tilts 180 degrees is re-aimed from where you are standing, which is faster and safer.
