How to choose and fit it

Why a splitter. A DMX line typically carries up to 32 fittings over about 300 m; a splitter boosts and isolates the signal and lets you run separate lines to different parts of the facade, so a fault on one line does not take down the others. Fit a 120-ohm terminator at the end of each splitter output line.

Channels. Every output carries the same DMX data as the input - one universe, up to 512 channels. A splitter adds fittings, cable length and fault isolation, not channels; for more than 512 channels, use another controller output.

Accessories. Use single-pair shielded DMX cable, 3-pin XLR connectors indoors, and IP68 I-connectors or waterproof gel connectors for outdoor joints. IP68 Y- and T-connectors are sealed junctions for teeing off power. Use them on DMX data only where the fitting's wiring system is designed for it, and never to split a DMX line into branches - give each branch its own splitter output.

RDM. Polycab does not say whether the splitter passes RDM. If you will address or monitor the fittings over RDM, tell us and we will confirm an RDM-capable splitter.

Location. Polycab gives no IP rating for the splitter - install it indoors or in a weatherproof, ventilated panel, as for the DMX controller.
