Is this the right one for you?

Check these five things before you order:

• You need lengths of 300, 600 or 1,000 mm - longer runs are made by mounting fittings end to end (ask us how many can run from one supply and data line).
• The supply suits the version - 24 V DC (with a separate driver) or 240 V AC.
• The colour suits the design - white from 2700 to 6500 K, RGB or RGBW (Polycab also lists dynamic white).
• The control suits the project - DMX512 (with a DMX controller) for colours, scenes and effects, or simple ON-OFF.
• It will be outdoors on the facade - it is rated IP66 and IK08.

How to choose and fit it

Choosing between the Indiray wall washers. Pro - a silver bar with a row of round lenses, which Polycab describes as designed to wash walls with a wide beam; Plus - a slim black body with square lens modules, for focused light with little spill; Soft - a frosted diffuser for a continuous, dot-free line of light; this page is the Deep - lenses set in a recessed channel, for controlled, low-glare light. Polycab lists asymmetric wall-washing for the Deep and Plus; we confirm the optic with the order. All four share the same lengths (300, 600 and 1,000 mm), beam diagrams (9°, 25°, 30 x 15° and 40°), colours, supply options, control and IP66 / IK08.

Beam. Polycab shows beam options of 9°, 25°, 30 x 15° and 40°: narrow beams carry the light further up a tall wall, wider beams cover more of the wall from close by, and the oval 30 x 15° beam is normally set with its wide axis along the wall, spreading light sideways with less spill - confirm the orientation with us. Polycab prints no asymmetric beam diagram - the only non-round beam it shows is the oval 30 x 15° - so if you need an asymmetric optic, tell us and we will check it with Polycab.

Control and wiring. Each DMX512 fitting is given a start address and uses one or more DMX channels - typically 1 for single white, 2 for dynamic white, 3 for RGB and 4 for RGBW, more if segments are controlled separately. The fittings are run from a DMX controller, which sets colours, scenes and dynamic effects. A DMX line (one universe) carries up to 512 channels and typically up to 32 fittings over about 300 m, whichever limit comes first: daisy-chain the fittings on shielded DMX cable (no Y-splits) and fit a 120-ohm terminator at the end of each line. For more fittings, longer runs or branches use a DMX splitter, which repeats the same channels on every output; for more channels use another controller output. ON-OFF versions switch like normal lights. 24 V DC versions need LED drivers sized for the connected load and placed close to the fittings, because long 24 V cable runs lose voltage. Feed the drivers, like the 240 V AC versions, from an earthed circuit protected by a 30 mA RCD.

Design. Facade lighting is planned building by building - send us elevations or photographs and the effect you want, and we will propose the fittings, beam angles, colours and control. A qualified electrician should install and connect the fittings, with the supply isolated.

Yes, for the DMX512 versions - a DMX controller (or the building's DMX system) sets their colours, scenes and effects; see the Polycab DMX controllers. ON-OFF versions switch like normal lights.

Which lengths are available?

300, 600 and 1,000 mm; longer runs are made by mounting several fittings end to end - we confirm the wiring and run lengths.
