The Polycab Solar DC Cable is a single-core photovoltaic cable for the DC side of solar plants, with a flexible copper conductor and electron-beam cross-linked, halogen-free, flame-retardant, low-smoke insulation and sheath. Polycab's catalogue lists it as conforming to EN 50618, IEC 62930 and AS/NZS 5000.1. It is supplied at a price on request: cable prices depend on the construction, the quantity and the raw-material prices on the day.

Polycab India Limited is India's largest manufacturer of wires and cables, with 27 manufacturing facilities, a network of 4,300+ dealers and distributors, 2,00,000+ retailers and an export presence in 84 countries (polycab.com, October 2026). Its cable range runs from house wires and 1.1 kV power and control cables to MV and EHV power cables, with instrumentation, solar, railway, marine, mining, fire-survival and other special cables. Jai Enterprises supplies Polycab cables from Bhilai and Raipur all over Chhattisgarh - Bhilai, Raipur, Durg, Korba, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Ambikapur and every other district - and across India.

Is this the right one for you?

Check these four things before you order:

  • The cable is for the DC side - module strings to the combiner box or string inverter.
  • Your system voltage is within the cable rating (1.5 kV DC under EN 50618 and IEC 62930).
  • You have sized the cable for at least 1.25 times the module short-circuit current (or for the string fuse rating, where strings are fused) and for voltage drop (4 and 6 sq mm are common).
  • The PV connectors are rated for the cable size and type.

Why choose the Polycab Solar DC Cable

  • Electron-beam cross-linked insulation and sheath - for heat, sunlight and outdoor life
  • Halogen-free, flame-retardant and low smoke
  • Anti-termite sheath on the string cable
  • Flexible copper conductor - easy to route along module rows
  • 1.5 kV DC rating under EN 50618 and IEC 62930

How to choose and specify it

Which version. Both entries are single-core, flexible copper, electron-beam cross-linked and halogen-free. The string cable carries all three standards (EN 50618, IEC 62930 and AS/NZS 5000.1) and has an anti-termite sheath; the halogen-free low-smoke cable is the IEC 62930 version. Name the standard in your specification.

Size. Size each string cable for at least 1.25 times the module short-circuit current (STC) - or for the string fuse rating, where strings are fused - derate it for ambient temperature and grouping, then check the voltage drop (often 1 to 2 % on the DC side); common string sizes are 4 and 6 sq mm. Send us the module data, the string layout and the run lengths.

Installation. Fix the cables to the module structure with UV-resistant ties or clips, keep positive and negative runs close together to limit loop area, protect them from sharp edges, use PV connectors matched to the cable, mate only plugs and sockets of the same type and make, and crimp the contacts only with the tool the connector maker specifies. Solar DC cables for the module and string side are rated for DC voltage (1.5 kV DC under EN 50618 and IEC 62930), for sunlight and for outdoor service; ordinary PVC building wire is not.

Where it is used

  • Rooftop solar on homes, offices and factories
  • Ground-mounted solar plants - string and module wiring
  • Solar pumping and off-grid systems
  • Carports and canal-top solar
  • Strings to combiner boxes and string inverters

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the Polycab Solar DC Cable?

The Polycab Solar DC Cable is supplied at a price on request, because cable prices depend on the construction, the quantity and the raw-material prices on the day. Call +91 9340081159 for a quotation.

Can I use ordinary PVC wire on the DC side?

No. Solar DC cables are built and tested for DC voltage up to 1.5 kV, sunlight and long outdoor life; ordinary PVC building wire is not, and it ages quickly outdoors.

What temperature is it rated for?

EN 50618 and IEC 62930 rate the conductor at 90 °C continuous, with 120 °C allowed for a limited time (20,000 hours). We confirm the rating on the Polycab datasheet.

Which size do I need?

It depends on the module short-circuit current, the temperature and the run length; 4 and 6 sq mm are common for strings. Tell us your design and we help you select it.

Where can I buy the Polycab Solar DC Cable in Chhattisgarh?

From Jai Enterprises, Bhilai and Raipur, which supplies Polycab cables to every district of Chhattisgarh and across India. Call +91 9340081159 for the price, stock and lead time.
