Raytech LittleJoint Y - IP68/IP69K Gel-Filled Y Branch Micro-Joints: Barney Y, Fred Y and Dino Y

Raytech LittleJoint Y is a family of gel-filled branch micro-joints for tapping a light fitting or spotlight off a through cable. Each joint is pre-filled, complete with its connector and three integrated cable glands, and sealed to IP68 and IP69K. Raytech is an Italian manufacturer that specialises in gel-based insulation for electrical connections: pre-filled gel boxes and joints that are ready to use straight from the pack, and insulating gels and rubbers for filling joints, boxes and enclosures.

Three sizes cover single-core, three-core and five-core cable from 6 to 19 mm diameter. Each size has its own page and price.

How to choose the size

Barney Y is for single-core cable: a through conductor of 1 x 4 or 1 x 2.5 mm² and a branch of 1 x 1.5 or 1 x 2.5 mm², cable 6-10 mm. Fred Y takes three-core cable up to 3 x 4 mm² through and 3 x 2.5 mm² branch (8-13 mm). Dino Y is for five-core cable up to 5 x 6 mm² through (14-19 mm).

How it is installed

1. Strip the through cable without cutting it where possible, and prepare the branch cable.
2. Connect through and branch conductors in the supplied connector and lay it in the gel-filled shell.
3. Close the shell and tighten the three glands: the gel seals the connection and the glands seal on the sheaths and hold the cables.
