HEX end-sealing ferrules (also called bootlace ferrules or cord-end terminals) are crimped onto the end of fine-stranded wire so that every strand is held together inside a screw or spring terminal. HEX makes non-insulated ferrules from 0.5 to 120 sq mm, insulated ferrules from 0.5 to 50 sq mm with a colour-coded collar, and twin ferrules that take two wires in one terminal. All are E-copper, electro-tinned. Made by HEX, the brand of Brass Copper & Alloy (I) Ltd., Mumbai — an ISO 9001 company whose products are tested by CPRI (India), UL (USA), KEMA (Netherlands) and SIRIM (Malaysia).
At a glance
- Non-insulated (HSF): 0.5 to 120 sq mm, lengths 6–34 mm
- Insulated (HE): 0.5 to 50 sq mm, colour-coded collars
- Twin (HTSFI): 2 × 0.5 to 2 × 16 sq mm
- Material: E-copper (electrolytic copper), minimum 97% IACS conductivity to IS 191
- Finish: electro-tinned to IS 1359
Why use ferrules
- No stray strands — a neat, reliable connection in screw and spring terminals.
- Colour-coded collars identify the wire size.
- Twin ferrules land two wires in one terminal.
- Choice of lengths per wire size.

Where it is used
- Control panels, PLC and drive wiring
- Spring-clamp and screw terminal blocks
- Machine and instrument wiring with flexible cable
Which small terminal do I need?
- Ring — the most secure; cannot slip off the stud even if the screw loosens.
- Fork / spade — quick to fit and remove without taking the screw out.
- Pin and blade — for tunnel and clamp-type terminal blocks.
- End-sealing ferrules (this page) — for fine-stranded wire in spring and screw terminals.
- Snap-on — push-on quick-disconnect tabs.
- Insulated butt connectors — for joining two wires.

Frequently asked questions
What is a bootlace ferrule?
A small tube crimped onto the end of stranded wire so the strands stay together in a terminal — HEX calls them end-sealing ferrules.
Insulated or non-insulated?
Insulated ferrules have a colour-coded plastic collar that guides the wire in and identifies its size; non-insulated ones are bare tinned copper.
What is a twin ferrule?
A ferrule that takes two wires into one terminal — HEX makes them from 2 × 0.5 to 2 × 16 sq mm.
