Rolled-thread brass split bolts with extruded pressure pads for tapping and joining conductors, natural, tinned or copper finish.

Request price

HEX line taps / split bolts join or tap conductors with a single bolt: the conductors lie in the slot of the bolt and the nut clamps them together through a pressure pad. They are made from high-tensile brass to BS 2874 CZ112; threads are rolled, giving the nut extra clamping force, and the pressure pads are extruded rather than cast, so they do not crack. Standard finish is passivated natural brass, with electro-tinned and high-conductivity copper versions. HEX also makes round-head split bolts in copper alloy with a captive saddle, for aerial hard-drawn or insulated copper conductors. Made by HEX, the brand of Brass Copper & Alloy (I) Ltd., Mumbai — an ISO 9001 company whose products are tested by CPRI (India), UL (USA), KEMA (Netherlands) and SIRIM (Malaysia).

Frequently asked questions

What is a split bolt used for?

To join or tap two conductors with one bolt, without cutting the main conductor.

What are they made of?

High-tensile brass to BS 2874 CZ112, or high-conductivity copper; round-head types are copper alloy.

How do I order a tinned or copper finish?

Add T for tinned or C for copper after the product code.

Why do rolled threads matter?

Rolling forms stronger threads, giving the nut extra clamping force.
