Dinnteco dinnGUARD is an intelligent monitoring, diagnostic and analytics system for DDCE lightning protection installations. It turns a traditionally passive lightning protection system into a data-driven, connected and auditable asset: an edge device on site measures earth resistance, leakage current, lightning activity and weather in real time, and a cloud platform brings every site together. Made by Dinnteco (Spain), which has more than 20 years of experience, over 10,000 units installed and a presence in more than 40 countries.
At a glance
- Type: Edge device + cloud platform
- Earth resistance: 0.01–200 Ω, non-intrusive
- Leakage current: 0.1 mA–20 A
- Lightning detection: up to 40 km, distance in 14 steps, cloud-to-ground and intra-cloud
- Weather: temperature, humidity, wind, pressure, rain, light, radiation
- Communication: RS-485 / Modbus and cloud
- Hazardous areas: explosion-proof / ATEX solutions when required
Why choose it
- Know your earthing is still working — continuous, non-intrusive earth resistance measurement without disconnecting the down conductor.
- See storms coming — lightning detected up to 40 km away, with distance estimation from 40 km down to 1 km.
- Works offline — the edge device keeps measuring and storing without internet; the cloud adds history, alarms and multi-site views.
- Built for the field — permanent outdoor installation, industrial communication, ATEX options.
- Audit-ready — reports, alarm history and data export for inspections and insurers.
Specifications
- Sensing system 1: ground resistance monitoring: 0.01 Ω to 200 Ω, non-intrusive (no disconnection of the down conductor)
- Sensing system 2: leakage current: 0.1 mA to 20 A
- Sensing system 3: lightning sensor: detection up to 40 km; storm distance estimated in 14 steps, from 40 km away down to 1 km away; cloud-to-ground and intra-cloud; embedded algorithms reject man-made disturbers (motors, microwaves, electronics)
- Sensing system 4: meteorological station: ambient temperature -40 to 85 °C, relative humidity 0–100% RH, wind speed 0–60 m/s, wind direction 0–360°, atmospheric pressure 300–1100 hPa, rainfall 0–200 mm/h, rain or snow (yes/no), illuminance 0–200 klux, radiation 0–2000 W/m²
- Architecture: hybrid edge + cloud: local capture, processing and autonomous operation; cloud storage, multi-device management, analytics, remote access
- Communication: industrial digital communication (e.g. RS-485 / Modbus); 4G/5G, Wi-Fi and other connectivity
- Installation: permanent outdoor installation at any DDCE site — buildings, towers, mountains, boats
- Hazardous areas: explosion-proof / ATEX-certified solutions supported when required
How dinnGUARD works
Sensors at the DDCE site collect data from the earthing, the lightning environment and the weather. The dinnGUARD edge device processes and stores it locally, and sends it over 4G/5G, Wi-Fi or RS-485 to the dinnGUARD cloud platform, where users see live dashboards, trend analysis, reports and alarms for every site — filtered by client, installation, location, sensor or time range.
Where it is used
- Telecom tower networks and radar sites
- Substations, transmission lines and wind or solar farms
- Oil and gas tank farms and refineries
- Defence and critical infrastructure
- Any multi-site DDCE installation that needs audit records

Frequently asked questions
What does dinnGUARD measure?
Earth resistance (0.01–200 Ω), leakage current (0.1 mA–20 A), lightning activity up to 40 km away, and local weather — temperature, humidity, wind, pressure, rainfall, light and radiation.
Does dinnGUARD need internet to work?
No. The edge device captures, processes and stores data autonomously; the cloud platform adds central storage, dashboards, alarms and remote access when connected.
Does measuring earth resistance require disconnecting the earthing?
No — measurement is non-intrusive; the down conductor stays connected.
Can it be used in hazardous areas?
Yes — explosion-proof / ATEX solutions are supported when required.
How does it connect to our SCADA or BMS?
Through industrial digital communication such as RS-485 / Modbus, as well as its own cloud platform.
Does it only work with Dinnteco DDCE devices?
It is designed to supervise DDCE-based lightning protection systems; ask us about your specific installation.
