It is supplied at a price on request: cable prices depend on the construction, the quantity and the raw-material prices on the day.

Polycab India Limited is India's largest manufacturer of wires and cables, with 27 manufacturing facilities, a network of 4,300+ dealers and distributors, 2,00,000+ retailers and an export presence in 84 countries (polycab.com, October 2026). Its cable range runs from house wires and 1.1 kV power and control cables to MV and EHV power cables, with instrumentation, solar, railway, marine, mining, fire-survival and other special cables. Jai Enterprises supplies Polycab cables from Bhilai and Raipur all over Chhattisgarh - Bhilai, Raipur, Durg, Korba, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Ambikapur and every other district - and across India.

Is this the right one for you?

Check these five things before you order:

  • Your system is in the 3.3 to 33 kV class - for 1.1 kV see the LV power cable, above 33 kV the EHV cable.
  • You know the voltage grade for your system earthing and earth-fault clearance time - for an 11 kV system, 6.35/11 kV (earthed) or 11/11 kV (unearthed).
  • You know the cores (1 or 3), the conductor (copper or aluminium) and the size (35 to 1200 sq mm).
  • On single-core AC circuits the cable will be unarmoured or aluminium armoured - never steel armoured.
  • You know the sheath your installation needs - for example FRLS or LSZH indoors where smoke matters.

How to choose and specify it

Voltage grade. IS 7098 (Part 2) has grades for earthed systems (1.9/3.3, 3.8/6.6, 6.35/11, 12.7/22 and 19/33 kV) and for unearthed systems (3.3/3.3 and 11/11 kV). Pick the grade for your system earthing and for how quickly earth faults are cleared: use the unearthed (UE) grade, for example 11/11 kV, where an earth fault can stay on longer than the standard allows for an earthed system. In IEC 60502-2 terms, a system whose earth faults can last longer than category B allows (8 hours per fault, 125 hours a year) is category C, and the cable is chosen one U0 step higher - for example 8.7/15 kV on an 11 kV system. The jointing kits and terminations must be for the same grade.

Size. The size follows the load current under your laying conditions (in ground, in ducts or in air, grouping, ground temperature and soil thermal resistivity) and the short-circuit current and time that the conductor and the metallic screen must carry. Send us the load, the fault level and the route and we will help you select it.

Armour and sheath. Armour protects buried and exposed runs. On single-core cables Polycab uses aluminium armour, because steel armour around a single AC conductor heats up from induced currents. Choose PVC ST2 for general use, PE for buried or wet routes, and FR, FRLS or LSZH where fire, smoke or corrosive gases matter.

Terminations. Use aluminium lugs on aluminium conductors (bimetallic lugs where they meet copper) and copper lugs on copper conductors, fitted inside a termination kit for the cable's voltage grade.

Standard. Name the standard in your specification - IS 7098 (Part 2) for XLPE cables on Indian projects, IEC 60502-2, the BS standards for UK-style specifications, AS/NZS 1429.1 for Australian projects or ICEA S-93-639 for North American ones.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the Polycab MV Power Cable?

The Polycab MV Power Cable is supplied at a price on request, because cable prices depend on the construction, the quantity and the raw-material prices on the day. Call +91 9340081159 for a quotation.

Which voltage grades are available?

The catalogue does not print the voltage grades; it lists the standards the cable is built to, which cover the 3.3 to 33 kV class (IS 7098 Part 2) and 6 to 30 kV (IEC 60502-2). Tell us your system voltage, how the neutral is earthed and how quickly earth faults are cleared, and we confirm the grade with Polycab.

Why do single-core cables have aluminium armour?

An AC current in a single conductor induces currents in a magnetic steel armour around it, which heats the cable and reduces its rating. A non-magnetic aluminium armour greatly reduces that heating, so single-core AC cables are aluminium armoured or unarmoured; how the armour is bonded still affects the rating.

What is the difference between the earthed and unearthed grades?

On an earthed system the insulation is designed for the phase-to-earth voltage (6.35 kV on an 11 kV system, the 6.35/11 kV grade). On an unearthed system a phase can stay at full line voltage to earth during a fault, so a thicker 11/11 kV grade is used. Jointing kits and terminations are also sold for earthed (E) or unearthed (UE) grades.

XLPE or EPR insulation?

Both are listed. XLPE is the usual choice for fixed MV distribution cables; EPR is a rubber insulation that is more flexible. Tell us your specification and we confirm what Polycab supplies for it.

Where can I buy the Polycab MV Power Cable in Chhattisgarh?

From Jai Enterprises, Bhilai and Raipur, which supplies Polycab cables to every district of Chhattisgarh and across India. Call +91 9340081159 for the price, stock and lead time.
