Raytech Rapid Joint - IPX8 Gel-Filled Straight Joints for 1 kV Cable, 1.5 to 400 sq mm
Radial-closing joints pre-filled with gel for extruded-insulation cables up to 1 kV, copper or aluminium. Four sizes, Rs 3,082 - 18,126 per joint.
Rs 3,082 - 18,126
Raytech Rapid Joint is a cylindrical, gel pre-filled straight joint for extruded-insulation cables up to 1 kV. Two gel-filled half-shells close radially around the connected conductors: there is no resin to mix and no curing time, the joint is sealed to IPX8, and it can be re-opened later - only with a tool. Raytech is an Italian manufacturer that specialises in gel-based insulation for electrical connections: pre-filled gel boxes and joints that are ready to use straight from the pack, and insulating gels and rubbers for filling joints, boxes and enclosures.
Four sizes cover copper conductors from 1.5 to 400 mm² (L25 and L95 also take aluminium). For multi-core signalling and control cable, the same shells are made as Rapid Joint LS.
Choose your Rapid Joint size
Prices are per joint. The size is shown for the common 4-core cable and for single-core cable.
- Rapid Joint L6 - 4-core 1.5-6 mm², single-core 1.5-50 mm², 105 x 55 mm - Rs 3,082 per joint
- Rapid Joint L10 - 4-core 2.5-16 mm², single-core 2.5-150 mm², 180 x 60 mm - Rs 4,494 per joint
- Rapid Joint L25 - 4-core 4-35 mm², single-core 120-240 mm², 210 x 65 mm - Rs 6,912 per joint
- Rapid Joint L95 - 4-core 25-70 mm², single-core 185-400 mm², 320 x 100 mm - Rs 18,126 per joint
How to choose the size
Choose by the number of cores and the conductor size. For 4-core copper cable: L6 takes 1.5-6 mm², L10 2.5-16 mm², L25 4-35 mm² and L95 25-70 mm². Single-core cable goes up to 50, 150, 240 and 400 mm² respectively. Each size page lists the 2- and 3-core ranges as well, and the aluminium ranges for L25 and L95.

- Casing: UL 94-V2; self-extinguishing, flame-retardant material
- Degree of protection: IPX8 - fully submersible, can be used underground
- Cable working temperature: up to 90 °C
- Installation temperature: -40 °C to +50 °C
- Closing system: radial closing; re-enterable only with a tool
Why choose Rapid Joint
- Pre-filled with gel - nothing to mix, pour or wait for: the joint is ready as soon as it is closed
- Radial closing - the shells close around the connected conductors, so there is no sleeve to slide over the cable first
- Tamper-resistant - re-enterable, but only with a tool
- IPX8 - fully submersible and suitable for underground use
- Flame retardant - self-extinguishing casing; no flame propagation to CEI 20-35, IEC 60332-1 and HD 405-1
- Spacers keep the conductors apart inside the gel
- Safe gel with no shelf life - not classified as hazardous under CLP and halogen-free
How it is installed
- Prepare the cable ends and join the conductors with suitable connectors - for power cable, connectors that comply with EN 61238-1.
- Fit the spacer so the joined conductors are held apart, and lay the joint in one gel-filled half-shell.
- Close the second half-shell over it: the shells lock radially and the gel closes around the conductors and connectors. To re-open the joint later, use a tool.
Where it is used
- Repairs and extensions of buried 0.6/1 kV power cables
- Feeders to street lighting, pumps and outdoor equipment
- Cable runs in wet ducts, pits and flood-prone areas
- Solar plants and other infrastructure cabling
- Industrial plant cable repairs where a quick, cold-applied joint saves downtime
