HEXPRESS is the crimping-tool range of HEX - the brand of Brass Copper & Alloy (I) Ltd., Mumbai, an ISO 9001 company - sold alongside the HEX cable lugs, terminals and ferrules it is sized to crimp. Use it with HEX copper tubular lugs, aluminium lugs and crimping sleeves of the same sizes.

Is this the right one for you?

Check these four things before you order:

  • Your lugs and connectors are within 50 to 400 sq mm.
  • You want both hands on the cable and lug while crimping - the foot pump leaves them free.
  • You will confirm the die set for your lug sizes when ordering.
  • The weight (17.0 kg) suits how the tool will be carried and used.

Why choose HEXPRESS HYF-400

  • Hydraulic force, not arm strength - the pump does the work, so every crimp on a large lug is closed fully
  • Dies matched to the lug size give a uniform compression joint
  • Sized by conductor cross-section, like the HEX lugs and connectors they crimp
  • One tool covers a wide range of sizes, so fewer tools go to site
  • Foot operated - hands free for the cable

How it is used

  1. Fit the die pair for the lug size in the crimping head.
  2. Strip the conductor, insert it fully into the lug barrel and place the barrel between the dies.
  3. Work the foot pump - both hands stay free to hold the lug and cable in position.
  4. Pump until the dies have closed completely, then open the release valve and remove the lug.

Where it is used

  • Terminating power cables on switchgear, transformers and distribution boards
  • Cable joints and terminations on site and in panel shops
  • Earthing and bonding conductors
  • Solar, industrial and utility installations with large copper and aluminium cables

Frequently asked questions

What sizes does HEXPRESS HYF-400 crimp?

Cable lugs, terminals and connectors for conductors of 50 to 400 sq mm.

Does it need dies?

The catalogue does not list dies for this tool; tell us your lug sizes and we will confirm the die set.

Can it crimp aluminium lugs?

A compression tool crimps any lug whose barrel matches the die, copper or aluminium; for aluminium lugs use the die size the lug calls for and apply a corrosion-inhibiting compound such as HEX HSC-100 to the conductor.

How is the ram released after a crimp?

Open the release valve on the tool; the ram retracts and the dies open so the lug can be removed.
