Raytech Happy IPX8 Gel Boxes - Happy 0, Happy 1 and Happy 2 for Wire Connectors

Raytech Happy is a family of three mini junction boxes pre-filled with insulating gel. Make the connection with an ordinary screw terminal, lever connector or push-in connector, lay it in the box and close the lid: the gel flows round the conductors and seals them to IPX8, so a connection made for indoor use can safely go outdoors, underground or under water. Raytech is an Italian manufacturer that specialises in gel-based insulation for electrical connections: pre-filled gel boxes and joints that are ready to use straight from the pack, and insulating gels and rubbers for filling joints, boxes and enclosures.

The three sizes cover the most commonly used connectors, take rigid or flexible insulated wires up to 6 mm², and have three entrances each for straight, branch or three-way wiring. Each size has its own page with the connectors it is designed for and its price.

How to choose the size

Choose by the connector. Happy 0 suits small connectors - 2 x 1.5 and 2 x 2.5 mm² screw connectors and 2- or 3-way lever or push-in connectors for up to 4 mm². Happy 1 takes a 3 x 2.5 mm² screw connector and 3-, 2+2- and 5-way connectors up to 6 mm². Happy 2 takes a 3 x 4 mm² screw connector, 2+2+2-way connectors and 5-way connectors up to 6 mm².

How to fit it

1. Make the connection as usual with a screw terminal, lever connector or push-in connector that suits the box size.
2. Lay the connector in the open box with the wires leaving through the entrances - straight through, as a branch, or three ways.
3. Close the lid until it latches. The gel flows round the conductors and the connector and seals them; to rework the joint later, open the lid, change the connection and close it again.

What is a gel box used for?
