How to choose and fit it

Which Indeco. Polycab makes three versions of the round high bay: Indeco Plus (150 lm/W or more, 80 to 250 W, 5700 K), Indeco (120 lm/W or more, 80 to 250 W, 5700 K) and Indeco Neo (110 lm/W or more, 80 to 200 W, 6500 K) - see the Indeco Plus LED High Bay Light and the Indeco Neo LED High Bay Light. A higher efficacy gives the same light from fewer watts, which lowers the running cost over the fitting's life.

Wattage. As a rough guide for the Indeco (120 lm/W or more): about 100 to 120 W at mounting heights of about 6 to 8 m, 150 to 200 W at heights of about 8 to 10 m and 250 W at heights of about 10 to 12 m, with closer spacing where more light is needed. That is roughly one step up on the Indeco Plus, which gives about 25% more light per watt; for more light at heights of about 10 to 12 m, choose the Indeco Plus. The 80 W model suits the lowest heights in this guide (about 6 m) or areas that need less light, such as stores and aisles. The right wattage and spacing depend on the light level the work needs - a warehouse needs less light than an assembly or inspection area - so send us the shed size and height and we will propose a layout.

Fitting. Hang the high bay from its eye bolt on a hook, beam clamp or chain, fix the safety chain to the structure, and connect it through a junction box with the cable entry sealed. It runs on 220 to 240 V AC. Isolate the supply before work; a qualified electrician should install and earth the fitting.

Efficacy, colour and wattage range: Indeco Plus gives 150 lm/W or more (5700 K, 80 to 250 W), Indeco 120 lm/W or more (5700 K, 80 to 250 W) and Indeco Neo 110 lm/W or more (6500 K, 80 to 200 W). All three are IP66 and IK08, hang from an eye bolt with a safety chain and have the same sizes per wattage. Polycab's photo shows the Neo with a different body - an open outer ring with large oval cut-outs - although its drawing is the same as the other two; if the fittings must look alike, ask us.

Can it be used in dusty or wet areas?

Yes, for ordinary dust and water - it is rated IP66 (dust-tight and protected against water jets) and IK08 for impact. It is not for hazardous areas with flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust (for example coal handling). There, use a certified flameproof fitting such as the Polycab LED flameproof high bay (80 to 150 W). Its certificate must cover your area - for gas, the zone, gas group and temperature class; for dust such as coal, a Zone 21 or 22 dust marking with the dust group and the maximum surface temperature - and the ambient temperature range there.
